Reuse a message with templates

A template is reusable messaging: a single email, or a whole sequence with its follow-ups, copied into a campaign when you start one from it.

Templates belong to your organization, not to a campaign. Find them under Templates. The list shows each one’s name, whether it is a Single email or an N-step sequence, and when it was last updated.

Save a campaign you liked as a template

1. Open the campaign.
2. Open the overflow menu in the header and choose Save as template.
3. Give it a Template name and confirm.

Write a template from scratch

1. Open Templates and press New template.
2. Write the name, the subject, and the body. Nothing exists until you press Save, at which point the template is created and gets its own page.
3. To make it a sequence, press Add a follow-up email and set the days to wait and the body, the same way you would on a campaign. Save each follow-up on its own.

Start a campaign from a template

There are two ways.

• From the template’s own page, press Start a campaign from this. ColdMerge creates a new draft campaign with the message and follow-ups already copied in, and takes you there.
• From a brand new campaign, use the Start from template picker. It appears only before the campaign has been saved for the first time.

Either way you still pick the mailboxes and the list, and you still walk the launch wizard. See Launch a campaign.

A template never freezes

A campaign’s first email locks the moment sending starts. A template never does, because nothing is sending from it. You can rewrite a template whenever you like.

The copy is one-way and happens once, at the moment you start the campaign. Editing the template afterwards never reaches campaigns already built from it, and editing one of those campaigns never changes the template.

Deleting a template is the same story. Campaigns built from it keep their own copy and carry on.

Writing a template is a desktop task. On a phone a template shows its subject, body, and follow-ups read-only.

Compose has been retired

ColdMerge used to have a Compose screen for sending a single one-off email. It is gone. An old bookmark to it now lands on Campaigns.

What replaced it:

• To reuse a message you send often, save it as a template and start a campaign from it.
